Explora Discovery School is a half-day, community preschool focused on providing children with opportunities to explore their inner sense of wonder through play. Where children can grow and develop social emotional skills important for lifelong relationships. Where children can take risks in an environment conducive to discovery, allowing them chances to experiment with new ideas and build confidence. Where children are inspired to think outside the box and use their imagination. Our school offers flexible and considerable outdoor time, where children can learn anything outside that they can learn inside.
We have 3 classrooms serving children ages 2.5 to 6 years old. Our classrooms utilize a play-based, whole child approach focused on providing children with a supportive environment based on their needs and interests. Through undirected play, children will develop important social skills including turn-taking, self-advocacy, negotiating, and conflict resolution. Our environments are equipped with loose parts and materials that encourage creativity, exploration, and discovery. In addition, our program is inspired and influenced by characteristics from the Reggio and Montessori styles of education.
Explora graces a gorgeous, historic property in downtown Holly Springs with over half an acre of land that will be home to our spacious outdoor learning environment. Each classroom will feature its own deck, creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor play. Thanks to our prime location and community approach, we plan to take walking field trips within the community such as to the Holly Springs library story time on the lawn. Additionally, we’ll welcome special visitors to our school for enriching on-campus experiences..
